Kína nemzetközi térnyerése elbizonytalanította a nyugati elemzőket. Ebben a lenyűgöző etnográfiai tanulmányban Ching Kwan Lee a közép-afrikai rézövezetben (Copperbelt) működő állami tulajdonú kínai cégek munkarezsimjét, beruházási mintáit és vezetési szokásait vizsgálja, kontrasztban a multinacionális cégóriásokkal. A tanulmány meglepő eredményei között megtalálhatóak Zambia első különleges gazdasági övezetei és a a „keserűség lenyelésének” sajátos, kvázi weberi etikája.
